CPDI conducts research on current issues affecting urbanization and development in Chinese cities, providing analysis and thoughtful solutions to various problems through published bi-lingual reports and articles.
Education and Training
CPDI helps professionals and officials in China and other countries learn about sustainable urban planning and design, architecture and real estate development concepts, and other topics. The organization convenes conferences, training seminars and workshops, and discussion forums. Training activities are also focused on underdeveloped areas where professional development opportunities might not otherwise exist.
Technical Assistance
CPDI organizes technical assistance projects including panels and planning studies which bring together Chinese experts and experts from other countries to jointly suggest solutions to planning and development challenges.
Publications
CPDI sponsors and publishes reports on urban planning practices and other development issues in China and other countries. CPDI also runs a bi-lingual urban planning and development news service, a job bank, and resource library with books and articles about urban development and planning in Chinese and English.
Conferences and meetings
CPDI organizes lectures and speakers on topics of interest to Chinese and international urban planning practitioners. CPDI also hosts conferences in China and around the globe on subjects of interest to Chinese and international audiences. The organization also presents awards to outstanding cities, planners, and real estate developers for excellence in preparing projects and plans.
Internships and Exchanges
CPDI offers an internship program for Chinese and international planning and development students, based in Beijing. Interns conduct research or perform other activities within their professional interest. CPDI also places foreign specialists with Chinese developers for specific, short-term planning assignments, so that mutual learning can occur.
